AEL Service Provided: Spillway Design, Geotechnical Engineering and Micro‑Hydro Prefeasibility Study
AEL completed the hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering, and prefeasibility study components for the Idlewild Dam. The spillway design required Inflow Design Flood (IDF) modeling to determine the required hydraulic capacity for the spillway structure. Three concept designs were developed for the spillway and 3D Printing technology was used to develop design models. AEL’s geotechnical scope included a site investigation, dam filter and drainage design, spillway and embankment stabilization, earthworks design, and tender and construction support including record drawings. AEL also completed a prefeasibility study for a potential micro-hydro project to occur at the Idlewild dam.
